Motorsport Golden Helmet Rider
wins Queensland Championship.
Oliver Allen, England, delayed his
departure for England after the Golden
Helmet Series to compete in the Queensland
Championship that was run over the traditional 20
heat formula with the top 4 riders going into a
final. Oliver won his first 4 races with ease but
his cam chain broke almost immediately he crossed
the line in his 4th ride so at that stage was out
of the meeting but a very sporting gesture from
the defending Champion Dave Watt
loaned him his spare bike so that Oliver could
complete his 5th heat race. The bike was set up
for Dave but Oliver still managed second place to
easily qualify for the final.
Between that race and the final Oliver and his
mechanics were able to make adjustments to the
bike to suit his style and he won the final with
ease from Australian Under 21 Champion Chris
Holder. Third place was Gold Coast rider Dave
Booth with 2003 Champion Dave Watt finishing 4th
place. |
|
Oliver will also
ride at Pioneer Park Speedway Ayr in a 2 day
meeting on 16th and 17th December before departing
Brisbane on 19th to prepare for the 2006 UK and
European season. |

For the Gold Coast round
the series 4 rider format was used instead of the usual
12 rider format, therefore there was no need for a semi
final. Riders with the highest qualifying points had
choice of start position in the final. |
